PR #977 is now combined into this PR #963. Synced with latest develop branch as of 06/20/2025 as well.

@BinLiu-NOAA new physics hash is ufs-community/ccpp-physics@65a2547 and new cubed sphere dycore hash is NOAA-GFDL/GFDL_atmos_cubed_sphere@4f1a5ef

@BinLiu-NOAA hashes are correct. Can you update physics branch name in gitmodules: branch = ufs/dev ?
