feat(oxlint): add anti-slop rules to shared presets (v0.1.6) - #9
Conversation
Vendors the 18 generic rules of dmmulroy/anti-slop (c44ef22, tests and the Effect plugin left out) into packages/oxc/src/anti-slop and enables all of them as errors in both the client and scripts presets. The files stay byte-identical to upstream; UPSTREAM.md records the source. unicorn/prefer-reflect-apply is off: it pushes toward Reflect.apply, which anti-slop/no-reflect-apply forbids. The plugin is TypeScript, so consumers run oxlint under Bun. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe repository adds an Oxlint-compatible plugin with 18 anti-slop rules, shared AST and TypeScript analysis helpers, and configuration that enables the plugin in both presets. 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Exempt third-party names that consumers cannot rename.
isBorrowedMemberName exempts only the property of a non-computed MemberExpression. Other names that belong to external modules still get reported:
- The
importedidentifier of anImportSpecifier, for exampleimport { ZodRawShape as RawSchema } from "zod". An alias does not help, because theimportedside is still anIdentifier. - The right side of a
TSQualifiedName, for examplez.ZodRawShapein a type position.
Consumers cannot rename these symbols. The rule is enabled as an error in both shared presets, so every such use needs a disable comment. Extend the exemption to these parent kinds. This file is vendored, so also report the fix upstream.

This file is vendored byte-identical from dmmulroy/anti-slop@c44ef22 (see packages/oxc/src/anti-slop/UPSTREAM.md) so updates stay a clean three-way merge; we don't patch it locally. Not changing it here: a rule-level false positive/negative belongs upstream, and the fix would arrive with the next sync. configg's own policy (which rules are on) lives in lint.ts.

@akellbl4 Thanks for the guidance. I agree that this rule-level issue belongs upstream, not in a local patch. The false-positive concern remains, but it should be addressed through an upstream fix and a later sync.
Would you like a follow-up issue in configg to track that work?

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Resolve explicit type arguments against the caller's substitutions, not the alias's partially built map.
aliasSubstitution copies base into next. It then writes each alias parameter into next. After that, it resolves every argument against next. An explicit argument is written in the caller's scope, so it must be resolved against base. With the current code, a caller type variable can be captured by an inner alias parameter that has the same name.
Example:
type Wrap<T, U> = Record<string, U>;
type Outer<T> = Wrap<unknown, T>;
type Safe = Outer<string>;The analysis of Outer<string> runs in this order:
baseis{T: string}.Wrap'sTis set tounknowninnext.Wrap'sUresolves the argumentTagainstnext, soUbecomesunknown.no-unsafe-dictionary-typethen reportsOuter<string>as anunknowndictionary. This is a false positive.
The reverse case, Wrap<string, T> with Outer<unknown>, hides a real unsafe value. Generic parameter names such as T are common, so this collision is realistic. The rule is enabled as an error in both shared presets.
packages/oxc/src/anti-slop/shared/type-alias-resolution.ts lines 199-205 already handle this correctly: they use base for explicit arguments and next only for defaults. Apply the same distinction here. This file is vendored, so also report the fix upstream.

@akellbl4 Thanks for the guidance. A local patch would break the byte-identical vendoring policy, so an upstream fix followed by a sync is the appropriate path. The finding remains valid but is deferred.
