Edit documents directly through email instructions:
- Attach the document you want to edit (must be the first Word attachment)
- Provide editing instructions in your email
- Optionally include precedent documents for reference (as additional attachments)
- Receive the edited document with your requested changes
The Contract Editor allows you to request specific changes to your document:
- Document Analysis: Junior analyzes your document's structure and content
- Instruction Analysis: Your editing instructions are parsed to understand needed changes
- Section Identification: Junior identifies relevant sections for editing
- Change Implementation: Junior applies changes according to your instructions
- Quality Control: Changes are reviewed for consistency with the rest of the document
Junior can handle various types of document edits:
- Direct Instructions: "Add a confidentiality clause that expires after 3 years"
- Playbook-Based Edits: Changes following standard drafting guidelines
- Precedent-Based Edits: Changes based on provisions in precedent documents
- Follow-Up Revisions: Iterative changes to previously edited documents
Junior supports different approaches to document editing:
- Specific Edits: Direct requests for specific changes to identified sections
- Excel Playbook: Attach an Excel file with editing instructions
- General Guidance: Broader instructions about document style or approach
- Precedent Incorporation: Instructions to incorporate provisions from attached precedents
For optimal results with Contract Editor:
- Be specific: Clearly identify where changes should be made
- Use section references: Refer to specific sections/clauses when possible
- One document at a time: Edit only one primary document per email
- Send follow-ups: For multiple changes, you can send follow-up emails for iterative edits
- Provide context: Explain the purpose of requested changes for better results
- Include precedents: Attach example documents containing provisions you want to incorporate
- Review changes: Always review edited documents carefully before using them
As a beta feature, Contract Editor has some limitations:
- Works best with well-structured Word documents
- May require more specific instructions for complex edits
- Performance varies based on document complexity and instruction clarity
- Multiple rounds of edits may be needed for extensive revisions
