Bump vendored isideload to 0.4.6 (fixes -80045 sign-in failure since 2026-10-12) - #8
Conversation
Apple started rejecting logins from 0.3.17 on 2026-10-12 (-80045): it ignores the client_info handed out by the anisette server and never resyncs (nab138/isideload#26, BartolomeoRusso9#27). 0.4.6 takes the server client_info and re-provisions when Apple asks. The Cargo.toml requirement was still ^0.3.17, so the [patch.crates-io] path override was ignored and cargo kept building the crates.io 0.3.17; bump it to 0.4.6 and refresh Cargo.lock. The vendored copy keeps two things AltKeeper needs: the AnisetteData accessors used by the AltStore bridge, and the local ALTKEEPER_DEBUG logging + HTTP/1.1 Connection: close transport settings, ported to the new grandslam.rs.
MaxCertsBehavior is generic over the callback (use MaxCertsCallbackBox) and sign_app takes pairing_file/device_udid.

Dependency and callback API integration Cargo.toml, vendor/isideload/Cargo.toml, vendor/isideload/src/util/*, src/apple.rs, CHANGELOG.md, vendor/isideload/README.md, vendor/isideload/src/lib.rs |
The manifests select isideload 0.4.6 and update dependencies. Shared callback contracts are added, application call sites use revised APIs, and error formatting gains a debug implementation. |
Anisette provisioning and resync vendor/isideload/src/anisette/* |
Anisette providers return data or provisioning statuses. The generator retries provisioning up to three times and supports resync. The remote provider adds SIM-aware requests and forced state resets. |
Apple authentication and HTTP retries vendor/isideload/src/auth/* |
AppleAccount adds configurable HTTP 429 retries, handles additional SMS response cases, and retries login initialization once after qualifying Anisette resync data. |
Certificate and provisioning-profile signing vendor/isideload/src/sideload/{builder,cert_identity,sideloader,sign}.rs, vendor/isideload/src/dev/certificates.rs |
Certificate handling switches to x509_cert and builds certificate chains. Sideloader retrieves profiles for registered app IDs and passes their profiles and entitlements to bundle signing. |
App metadata and installation updates vendor/isideload/src/sideload/{application,bundle,install,sideloader}.rs, vendor/isideload/src/dev/{app_groups,app_ids,mod}.rs |
Special-app handling can encrypt and include pairing-file data and store a device UDID. Bundle and app-group metadata are updated, app names are normalized, and installation upload chunks and progress logging are adjusted. |

grandslam.rs calls ClientBuilder::tls_backend_native() on macOS (it is part of the transport settings ported from the 0.3.17 copy), but reqwest only exposes that method with the native-tls feature, and the 0.4.6 manifest enabled it for Windows alone. Add the same target-specific reqwest block for macOS, as the 0.3.17 copy had. Spotted by CodeRabbit in review; it cannot be caught by a Linux build because the call is behind cfg(target_os = "macos").

After an hsc 434 resync, 0.4.6 re-sends the init request with fresh anisette client data but the step-2 proof request still serialised the original cpd, so the two halves of the login could use different anisette identities. Marked as a local patch pending nab138/isideload#29 (still present on their main); droppable once upstream ships the fix.
… provisioning retries 0.4.x retries provisioning itself (get_data_or_provision, 3 attempts) and then fails with 'Max anisette provisioning attempts reached'. needs_reprovision() only knew -45061 / 'reprovision required', so anisette_state was not moved aside in the one case where a fresh identity is needed.

Fixes the Apple sign-in regression that has made every
check/renewfail with-80045since 2026-10-12: the vendoredisideload0.3.17 does not use theclient_infohanded out by the anisette server and never resyncs, which Apple now rejects. Upstreamisideloadfixed this in 0.4.x (nab138/isideload#26 and follow-ups, reported in nab138/isideload#27), so this PR moves the vendored copy from 0.3.17 to 0.4.6 (upstream8ca39b62).Refs #6.
What changed
Cargo.toml— the dependency requirement wasisideload = { version = "0.3.17", … }, i.e.^0.3.17, which does not match 0.4.x. Because of that the[patch.crates-io] isideload = { path = "vendor/isideload" }override was silently ignored and Cargo kept building the crates.io 0.3.17. Bumped to0.4.6(and refreshed the comment above the patch section).vendor/isideload→ 0.4.6 (wholesale copy of upstream8ca39b62), plus the things needed to drop it in unchanged:AnisetteDataaccessors restored (machine_id,one_time_password,local_user_id,device_unique_identifier). 0.4.x made the fields private and the AltStore anisette bridge in AltKeeper reads them. Upstreamisideloadhas no reason to expose them, so they live in the vendored copy only.grandslam.rs:ALTKEEPER_DEBUG/ALTREFRESH_DEBUGlogging (gs_debug(),GS_SEQ, the[gs #n]lines, including the error body);pool_max_idle_per_host(0),Connection: closeon every request, and native TLS on macOS (plus thenative-tlsfeature for the macOS target in the vendored manifest, which 0.4.6 only enables for Windows — without ittls_backend_native()does not compile on macOS).[patch, pending nab138/isideload#29]— after anhsc 434resync, 0.4.6 re-sends the init request with the freshly resynced client data but the step-2 proof request still carried the originalcpd. Two lines (let mut cpd+cpd = fresh_cpd;) so both requests use the same anisette identity. Droppable as soon as the upstream fix lands; the comment in the code says so.Two call sites in
src/apple.rs(the only application changes needed):needs_reprovision()insrc/apple.rsalso accepts"Max anisette provisioning attempts reached": 0.4.x runs its own provisioning retry loop and bails with that message, which the old matcher did not recognise, sostate/anisette_statewas not retired in exactly the case where it had to be.Cargo.lockregenerated accordingly, so thecargo build --release --lockedin the Dockerfile keeps working. Why 0.4.6 and not 0.5.0
0.4.6 is the version this has been running for over a week. 0.5.0 adds the "reuse the main profile" option, which is unrelated to the login fix; bumping further is a one-line change once that feature has been tested here — happy to do it in a follow-up.
Testing
cargo build --release --lockedfrom this branch (rust:1-bookworm, same command as the Dockerfile) — builds clean; the image is 138 MB and starts withserve --bind 0.0.0.0:8787 --altserver.ALTKEEPER_DEBUG=1output verified: the[gs #n]request/response lines and the… error body (…)line on Apple errors.hsc 434resync path and the -45061 state retirement are not exercised by those runs (Apple has to trigger them); the two patches above come from reading the code, not from a live repro.I could not diff the vendored copy against a tagged
isideload0.3.17, so if there is another local tweak insidevendor/isideloadthat I did not notice, tell me and I'll port it — the diff ofvendor/is the best place to check. One note: I also have a separate, unrelated patch for the SMS 2FA path (
/auth/verify/phoneanswers a bare 403, so sign-in only works through a trusted device). It is deliberately not part of this PR; say the word if you want it as a separate PR.Summary by CodeRabbit
