fix(edit): catch paragraph edges and frames without aiming for the hairline - #4624
In Edit text & images, a paragraph's rewrap handle and an open paragraph's frame were hard to catch (#2203: handles "not precise", "sometimes I can't get them to appear"). Measured on main (see the table in #4190's thread): the edge grip reached ±6 px around the outline, and further inside a press moved the box instead.
EDGE_REACH 6 → 8 px. A narrow box still keeps its middle for moving (inside stays capped at a quarter of its width).
One FRAME_REACH, 8 px. An open paragraph's frame had two reaches: 4 px for the move cursor drawn in edit_text_ui and 6 px for the press object_ui::on_frame takes. Between 4 and 6 px a press selected the box with no cursor saying so. object_ui now uses edit_text_ui::FRAME_REACH, so the move arrow shows exactly where a press takes hold.
7 px inside and 7 px outside a closed paragraph's right edge, the cursor is ResizeHorizontal and a drag rewraps (Edit text). With the old EDGE_REACH it fails: -7 px from the edge, left: Move, right: ResizeHorizontal.
7 px beyond an open paragraph's drawn frame, the cursor is Move and a click selects the box ("1 object selected"). With the old frame reaches (4 cursor / 6 press) it fails: left: Default, right: Move.

Parity and reach
No parity wording changes (the reach isn't described there)
8 px is a judgement call: wide enough to catch, small enough that boxes a few points apart don't steal each other's presses (the topmost box still wins, as before).
Paragraph edges and open frames are easier to target, with their interactive areas extended to 8 pixels.
The move cursor now appears over an open paragraph’s frame only when there are no pending edits. Clicking the frame while edits are pending applies the draft instead of selecting the paragraph.

Walkthrough
Paragraph edge and frame hit areas expand from 6 to 8 screen pixels. The open-frame Move cursor now appears only when the editor has no changes. An integration test covers resizing, selection, and applying modified draft text.

Hit reach and editor interactions crates/ui-egui/src/tools/edit_text_ui.rs, crates/ui-egui/tests/it/editing.rs
The edge and frame hit reaches increase to 8 screen pixels. The frame Move cursor appears only when the editor has no changes. The integration test checks resizing, selection, and draft application.
The wider paragraph frame can intercept clicks on a nearby object in tightly spaced layouts. The change is mergeable with awareness of this localized interaction risk.

Explanation
The title names the main change: paragraph edge grip and open-paragraph frame hit targets are widened so users can catch them without aiming precisely. It is in the fix(edit) style and matches the raw summary (EDGE_REACH 6 to 8 px, unified FRAME_REACH, and the move-cursor affordance change).
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's main sections. It has a 'What this changes' section that explains the behaviour change and why it matters, and it links to the reported issue (#2203). It has a 'How you verified it' section with the commands run and a test that was shown to fail before the fix. It has a 'Never-crash' section, a 'Provenance' section, a 'Parity and reach' section, and an 'Anything a reviewer should look at first' section with a rebase risk and a judgement call. Some template items are not ticked, such as the cargo xtask layers and assets checks, and the Security section is missing. These omissions are not critical because the template says to delete sections that do not apply. The description also says the cursor affordance changed only as a side effect of the shared constant, but the raw summary says the Move cursor now appears only while the paragraph has no changes. The description does not mention that behaviour change, which is a user-visible change.
Resolution
Optional: state the change where the move cursor is hidden while the paragraph has unsaved edits. This is a user-visible behaviour change that existing users may notice. It is not described in 'What this changes' or 'Anything a reviewer should look at first'.

Approving. Paragraph edges and frames are easier to catch without aiming for the hairline: the edge grip reach goes from 6 to 8 screen pixels and the frame reach from 4 (and a duplicate 6 in the object selection) to a single shared value of 8, which object_ui now reads from edit_text_ui. I read the whole non-test diff (three constants and their one use); the gate and SonarCloud pass at 3d09a45. I read the code and the CI results; I did not run the app.
Checked by hand in a Windows release build (this branch together with the other two open fixes, #4605, #4620 and #4624, on main 418ac6a): works as described.
…s can't take the box
Review on storytold#4624: once an open paragraph's text is changed, `object_ui` doesn't take its box on a
frame press (selecting it would drop the typing); the press applies the typing like any click off
the text. The cursor still showed the move arrow there. It now shows only while the paragraph is
unchanged, so it matches the press. The test checks the arrow is gone after typing, and that a
press there applies the typing and selects nothing.

Approving at 422530d. Gate (ubuntu), SonarCloud and the git-dependency check are green at this head. I approved and FredApps approved an earlier head; I re-read the PR diff as it stands.
The grip reach on a paragraph's edge goes from 6 to 8 screen pixels and the frame reach from two different values (4 for the cursor, 6 for the press) to one shared FRAME_REACH of 8, so the move arrow shows exactly where a press takes the box. on_frame in object_ui now reads the shared constant instead of its own copy.
Once the open paragraph has changed text (ed.has_changes()), the move cursor is no longer offered on the frame, because a press there applies the typing like any click off the text rather than taking the box, which would have dropped the typing. This matches the press path.
The test hovers 7 px either side of a closed paragraph's right edge (ResizeHorizontal, and a drag rewraps), 7 px beyond an open frame (Move, and a click selects the box), and the changed-text case (no Move cursor, the click applies the typing and takes no box).
Limits: I did not build or run the app. The pointer feel of an 8 px reach on small paragraphs was not tried; a narrow box keeping its middle for moving rests on the comment, not on a test.
I read the code and the CI results; I did not run the app.

Prioritize a nearby object over the open paragraph’s frame.
If another paragraph begins 9 pixels from the open paragraph’s rectangle, a press inside that paragraph now falls within the expanded frame hit area. input computes the other object’s hit, but selects the open paragraph before using it. Let a hit on another foreground object follow its normal click path. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Users found a paragraph's rewrap handle and an open paragraph's frame hard to catch (storytold#2203). The
edge grip reached 6 px either side of the outline; it now reaches 8 px. An open paragraph's frame
had two reaches: 4 px for the move cursor drawn in `edit_text_ui` and 6 px for the press
`object_ui` takes, so between them a press selected the box with no cursor saying so. Both now
use one `FRAME_REACH` of 8 px, and the cursor shows exactly where a press takes hold.
