inputdrv_directmode
VirtualDub Plugin SDK 1.2
Direct mode
Direct mode allows a host to retrieve the raw data and format of a stream and copy it into another stream without requiring decoding or recompression. While greatly restrictive in terms of processing, this is advantageous from performance and quality preservation standpoints when possible.
To support direct mode, a source must support the
GetDirectFormat() and
GetDirectFormatLen()
methods. These expose the stream formats as either a Windows
BITMAPINFOHEADER for video stream sources, or WAVEFORMATEX for audio
stream sources. If NULL is returned, then direct mode is not possible
for the given stream.
