Refer to the UAB Brand Toolkit for Web Communication's rules regarding images and image sizing. This guide will serve as supplementary material and as a guide on how images are sized and compressed on IT sites specifically.

Image Sizes

Banner: 1600 x 300
Illustrations: 266 x 176
News: 640 x 360
Large: 1280 x 720
Medium: 640 x auto
Small: 320 x auto
Portraits: 1280 x 1920

File Sizes

The target file size for images is 300kb, and the max file size is 500kb.

Use the .png format for graphics and icons
Use the .jpg format for photos
Use the .mp4 format for videos and gifs.
Host videos on YouTube if possible.
