What changes are you trying to make? (e.g. Adding or removing code, refactoring existing code, adding reports)
I have created and organized a directory structure using Bash commands. I have copied, moved and filtered log files, removed sensitive data for user privacy, and generated an inventory file listing all processed files.
What did you learn from the changes you have made?
I learned how to efficiently navigate and make changes in directories in Bash, filter files based on naming conventions, and use redirection operators to generate output files.
Was there another approach you were thinking about making? If so, what approach(es) were you thinking of?
For Q8, I thought of several alternative approaches, such as using touch command to create the file first, using absolute paths, etc. But I found the solution I implemented simpler.
Were there any challenges? If so, what issue(s) did you face? How did you overcome it?
Yes, ensuring that the correct files were being copied and removed based on naming patterns took some testing. I also had to be careful with redirection so that the inventory.txt file was created and appended correctly without losing data.
How were these changes tested?
I ran bash assignment.sh after each question was completed to ensure that the changes are being reflected. Also, I manually tried to ls the directories and files to ensure that the files are being moved, deleted, etc.
