fix(ui): centre the quick-tools bar in the margin beside the page (#5635) - #5638
The quick-tools bar stood a fixed 14 pt from the side panel, so its gap to the page changed with zoom and window size and it usually sat too close to the page. It now centres in the margin between the side panel and the page (quick_bar_offset in canvas/bars.rs). The page's left edge comes from the view's on-screen page rectangles, and the bar's own width from last frame, since Fill & Sign's Text and Date tools make it wider. Two cases keep the old placement: a margin too narrow to hold the bar (a page filling the width) leaves it 14 pt in, and a margin wider than 100 pt centres within its first 100 pt, so the bar stays by the panel.
cargo test -p pdfcraft-ui-egui (610 unit, 1270 integration)
New unit tests in canvas/bars.rs pin the centring, the 100 pt cap and the fallback (including a negative, infinite or NaN margin). The centring test fails on the old behaviour, which always returned 14. I checked one screenshot, at 100% zoom in the dark theme: the gaps were equal. CodeRabbit reported no findings.
Never-crash
No unwrap/expect/panic!, no indexing, no unsafe. quick_bar_offset is total: a NaN, negative or infinite margin falls back to 14 pt (a test pins NaN, which f32::min would otherwise pass as 100 pt).
The 100 pt cap is my choice. I haven't checked two-page layouts or horizontal scrolling.

Improvements
The quick-action bar now adjusts its horizontal position to the space between the side panel and the nearest visible page. It centers in the available margin when there is room, stays a consistent distance from the page when space is tight, and accounts for wider bars and a left-docked hotbar. If page positioning is unavailable, the bar uses a fallback offset.

Walkthrough
The canvas now passes the left edge of the leftmost visible page to the quick-tools bar. The bar uses the available margin and its prior frame’s width to calculate its horizontal position. Tests cover centering and fallback behavior.
Changes: Quick-tools bar placement
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Calculate and apply the bar margin crates/ui-egui/src/canvas/bars.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/canvas.rs
quick_bar calculates its offset from the page’s left edge, using the prior frame’s bar width with a 46 pt minimum. It centers the bar when the margin, capped at 100 pt, fits the bar plus 16 pt; otherwise, it uses a 14 pt offset. The canvas passes the left edge of the leftmost visible page, or None when no page rectangles are available. Tests cover centering and fallback behavior.
The placement change has no established current-head merge-blocking risk.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #5635 requires the quick-tools bar to be centered in the margin between the side panel and the page. quick_bar_offset clamps the margin to 100 pt before centering, so a margin greater than 100 pt places the bar at 27 pt instead of at the center of the full margin. The page-edge calculation, previous-frame width, narrow-margin fallback, and unit tests support the placement objective, but the cap leaves the direct requirement unmet for wide margins.
Resolution
Remove the 100 pt clamp from the normal centering path so the bar centers in the full available margin. Keep the 14 pt fallback only when the margin cannot hold the current bar width.

…n keeps 14 pt (storytold#5635)
Fill & Sign's Text and Date tools widen the bar, so the fit check and the centring now use last
frame's width of the bar. A NaN margin used to count as 100 pt through `f32::min`.

ReviewerA — source-read COMMENT (not an approval)
I read the diff: the quick-tools bar was at a fixed offset from the side panel; it is now centred in the margin between the panel and the nearest page (page_left, the smallest left edge among the visible pages, passed to quick_bar) when the margin holds the bar with 8 points to spare on each side, and otherwise stands 14 points in, for a page that fills the width (#5635). The offset function quick_bar_offset(margin, width) is pure, treats a NaN margin as 0 (the comment explains that f32::min returns the other operand for NaN, which would pass the fit check), and caps the margin at 100 points so a very wide margin keeps the bar by the panel. Making it a pure function and handling NaN explicitly are good. If there are no visible pages page_left is None: say what offset results (the edge value, presumably). Add table tests for the function: a margin that holds the bar exactly, one point less, NaN, 1000 points, and a negative margin (a page scrolled under the panel). Please attach a screenshot at a narrow and a wide window. I have not run it, and no exact-head CI result exists for this head. Nothing was run.
I ran nothing and have no exact-head CI result for this PR, so this is not an approval. Where a diff was long I read its code hunks rather than every generated or documentation line.
Screenshots of this branch, at 1x in the dark theme. They are headless renders of the real app shell (cargo run -p pdfcraft-ui-egui --example shot), not a live window.
Narrow window (900 wide). The margin between the side panel and the page is 71 pt, so the bar is centred in it, about 12 pt in.
Wide window (1700 wide, 60% zoom). The margin is far over 100 pt, so the bar centres within its first 100 pt (27 pt in) and stays by the panel.
Fill & Sign, Text tool (1100 wide). The bar is wider here (about 74 pt). The 89 pt margin can't hold it with 8 pt to spare each side, so it keeps 14 pt in.
Conflict with main's hotbar, resolved by keeping both: the bar keeps main's offset past a hotbar
docked on the left or top, and centres in the margin that starts after it.
Merged, thanks! The quick-tools bar now sits more evenly in the margin beside the page, accounting for wider controls and a docked hotbar, with the existing edge placement retained when space is tight.
