Öffi NG - Öffi Next Generation

This is a fork of Öffi – The King of Public Transit! from https://gitlab.com/oeffi/oeffi.

Öffi is an Android app that tells you where and when trains and busses go, including delays and replacement bus service for more and more transport authorities in Europe and beyond.

A lot of new features have been added in this fork and continue to be added. Stay tuned! See details in English.

Disclaimer

The current state of the project is "continuous beta". That means: be prepared for unexpected results and behaviour, and frequent updates.

I did the modifications compared to the original Öffi app for my own personal use. They are based on my own personal requirements when using public transport services. Other users may have other requirements I may not be aware of. Furthermore, my time to make this app is still limited mostly to periods of bad weather. Times of good weather are usually reserved to "field testing" the app. That said, all additional features and user interface design are highly opinionated. You are free to stay with the original Öffi app, if this version does not fit your needs.

Until further decision, this app version will not be published in any store like the Google Play Store or F-Droid.

Download, Install, Update (English)

An easy way to download, install and periodically update Öffi NG is using Obtainium (get it here). Obtainium is similar to an alternative app store. Alternatively, if you do not want to install and trust Obtainium, you can download Öffi NG manually and then let the app itself periodically check for updates and guide you through the updating process.

Installing for the first time

1. Open this page on your mobile phone.
2. Download the APK file by clicking on this link.
3. Open the downloaded file in order to install it for the first time. Follow the prompts and accept the risk.

Updating

1. Start the app. If a new version is available, you will be asked to download and install the updated APK file.
2. The app can update itself, but requires permission to do so. If you accept this, click "download and install" to proceed. Follow the prompts and accept the risk.
3. If you don't trust the app, click "download for manual installation" to proceed with the download by your web browser. Then open the downloaded file in order to run the update. Follow the prompts and accept the risk.

Ein einfacher Weg, Öffi NG herunter zu laden, zu installieren und periodisch auf Updates zu prüfen, ist die Verwendung von Obtainium (hole es von hier). Obtainium ist ähnlich einem alternativen App-Store. Alternativ, falls Du Obtainium nicht installieren und ihm trauen möchtest, kannst Du Öffi NG manuell installieren und danach die App selbst periodisch auf Updates prüfen und dich durch den Update-Prozess führen lassen.

Erstmalige Installation

1. Öffne diese Seite auf deinem Handy.
2. Lade die APK Datei herunter durch Klicke auf diesen Link.
3. Öffne die heruntergeladene Datei um sie zum ersten Mal zu installieren. Folge den Anweisungen und akzeptiere das Risiko.

Update

1. Starte die App Wenn eine neue Version verfügbar ist, wirst du gefragt, ob du die neue APK Datei herunterladen und installieren möchtest.
2. Die App kann sich selbst updaten, benötigt dafür aber entsprechende Rechte. Wenn du das akzeptierst, klicke auf "herunterladen und installieren" um fortzufahren. Folge den Anweisungen und akzeptiere das Risiko.
3. Wenn du der App nicht vertraust, klicke auf "Herunterladen zur händischen Installation" um mit dem Download in deinem Web-Browser fortzufahren. Öffne die heruntergeladene Datei um das Update durchzuführen. Folge den Anweisungen und akzeptiere das Risiko.
