Avoid file name vs contents confusion in pretty

This prevents pretty from unexpectedly trying to read random files on the file system.

I also added a method to parse to let it parse directly from an AbstractVector{UInt8}.

This was needed to remove some redundant AbstractString to AbstractVector back and forth.
