Health Nexus is a comprehensive web application designed to address the inefficiencies in small clinics across India by automating key administrative and clinical tasks. The platform enhances operational efficiency, improves patient care, and ensures accurate medical documentation. The system features three distinct user interfaces tailored for patients, administrative staff, and doctors, each streamlining their specific workflows.

Project Overview

Health Nexus solves the problem of manual management in small clinics by providing a unified platform for clinic staff, doctors, and patients. The platform automates appointments, prescriptions, medical test management, and billing, which reduces manual errors and improves patient care.

Features

Patient Interface:

• Appointment Scheduling: Patients can book and manage appointments with doctors, view past and upcoming visits.
• Prescription Management: Access and download digital prescriptions from a central repository.
• Medical Test Management: View and book tests, with test results accessible online.
• Billing Section: Manage bills and payments, access past bills, and view payment history.
• Dashboard: A centralized hub where patients can access all appointments, prescriptions, and test records.

Administrative Interface:

• Doctor Management: Update and manage doctor profiles visible to patients.
• Appointment & Billing: View and manage all clinic appointments and automate billing post-consultation.
• Dashboard: Track clinic performance metrics, manage patient feedback, and update medical test details.

Doctor Interface:

• Patient Management: View daily patient lists with comprehensive medical history.
• Digital Prescription: Create and send digital prescriptions directly to patients’ profiles.
• Test Recommendations: Recommend tests to patients with automatic updates to their profiles.

Getting Started

To get a local copy up and running, follow these steps.

Prerequisites

• Node.js installed (v12.x or higher)
• MongoDB installed and running locally or on the cloud (e.g., MongoDB Atlas)

Installation

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/pradip2004/HealthNexus.git
   cd HealthNexus

2. Install dependencies for both backend and frontend:

   Backend:

   cd backend
   npm install

   Frontend:

   cd ../frontend
   npm install

3. Create a .env file in the backend directory with the following variables:

   PORT=5000
   MONGO_URI=<your-mongodb-uri>
   JWT_SECRET=<your-secret-key>
   

4. Start the backend server:

   cd backend
   npm ./index.js

5. Start the frontend server:

   cd frontend
   npm run dev

6. Open the app in your browser at http://localhost:5173.

Usage

Once the app is running:

• Patients can register, log in, and manage their appointments, prescriptions, medical tests, and bills.
• Administrative staff can manage doctor profiles, appointments, and billing information.
• Doctors can view patient details, prescribe medications, and recommend tests.
