In order to enable the docker server to let containers connect to the internet
change 

/etc/default/docker

to have (add the line):

DOCKER_OPTS="--dns 134.2.14.4 --dns 134.2.12.17 -H tcp://0.0.0.0:4243 -H unix:///var/run/docker.sock"
