[EPIC] Unified Binary #353

Description

@charlesjohnson

Summary

Summary

Consolidate AURA’s two executables into a single aura binary.

Today, AURA ships as:

  • aura — CLI/chat mode
  • aura-webserver — standalone webserver daemon

After this change, aura will support both use cases. CLI/chat remains the default behavior, while the webserver is launched with an explicit flag:

aura --webserver

The separate aura-webserver binary will be retired.

Motivation

Maintaining and distributing two binaries adds complexity without providing meaningful separation for users. Both entry points are part of the same product, share substantial implementation and configuration, and should evolve and ship together.

This makes it easier for customers to adopt and use AURA, reduces development complexity on many fronts (eliminating duplicated code, reducing build complexity, reducing packaging complexity, etc.) and makes it easier to extend AURA at a later date.

Compatibility and rollout

This will be a breaking change. If a transition period is needed, aura-webserver may temporarily remain as a thin compatibility shim that prints a deprecation warning and delegates to aura --webserver.
