Modifcations for ruby 2.2 and AWS SDK v2

Hi, I made some changes so this works with ruby/aws-sdk v2. Not sure if/how you want to use them, if you want to maintain compatibility for ruby/aws-sdk v1. I have further testing to do and will update with any changes required, but ec2 checks seem to work ok (for me at least).

Tested using FreeBSD only atm, as bsd does
not support ruby1.9, it is depreciated

Only tested on ec2 instances for now
will test others in due course

Thanks a lot!

I will have a look at how to deal with this. The platform I use the most
have a ridiculously old ruby version (and sdk). Perhaps I chould just split
it into two scripts. Will get back to you very soon.
