Cousins Matter provides a bunch of features (described in details at Features) amongs which:
- Member Management: profiles, invitations, directories, birthdays, bulk import, managed members (for youngsters and elders), member following...
- Photo Galleries: bulk import, gallery trees,...
- Forums: posts and answers, post notifications
- Chat: chat online, public and private rooms, chat notifications
- Pages: basic CMS, publication by the admin
- Troves: a place where you can put the focus on numeric family treasures, be it texts, music, videos
- Polls: creation and answering by any active member.
- Event planning: sub module of the Poll module, event planning survey to define when an avent should take place.
- Classified ads: Any member can publish a classified ad.
Admin can easily customize their site and define their own theme. See:

Cousins Matter has been tested on Linux and Windows 11 + WSL2. Not yet tested on MacOS.
Cousins Matter must be self hosted on your own server which can be very small (e.g. a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5, a small VPS, an old laptop...). It is based on Docker, but you don't need to have a deep understanding of Docker to install it. You just have to be a bit comfortable with the command line.

The version 2 is quite different from the 1.x versions and you will need to apply a migration command to install the v2. See Migration from v1 to v2
