Hopefully this passes CI! I was able to make it work on my machine. (although I haven't done anything with what I just installed, so hopefully it does something useful... )

Of course, I fixed clang, and broke gcc, figures...

So the error occurs on the configuration script when XML_ParserCreate looks for expat. I'm not quite sure of the link between that and LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -Qunused-arguments", nor why it would occur only in the GCC path.
