Cron::Parser

Cron Parser is you bestest friend!

Testing

$ rake

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'cron-parser', github: 'https://github.com/ivankukobko/cron-parser'

And then execute:

$ bundle

Or install it yourself as:

$ gem install cron-parser

Usage

Script deciphers cron commands and prints the explanation (total or per segment) when the command will be executed

> Cron::Parser.parse '0 0 1 1 * /bin/sh'
minute       0
hour         0
day of month 1
month        1
day of week  0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
command      /bin/sh
> cron_expression = Cron::Expression.new '0 0 1 1 * /bin/sh'
> cron_expression.command
=> '/bin/sh'

Available segment methods for CronExpression are:

  • minute
  • hour
  • day_of_month
  • month
  • day_of_week
  • command

Command-line:

$ ./bin/cron-parser '0 0 1 1 * /bin/sh'

minute       0
hour         0
day of month 1
month        1
day of week  0 1 2 3 4 5 6
command      /bin/sh

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake test to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
