Julia 1.13 - libopenfhe_julia was undeclared at import

Julia 1.13 was released on 2026-09-10 (see https://julialang.org/blog/2026/09/julia-1.13-highlights/index.html).

The pipeline for Downgrade Tests and Documenter set julia "1" instead of "1.12" as the CI tests do. Thus, the pipeline uses julia 1.13 and it fails with

The CI passes with julia locked to v1.12 (see #138).
@sloede do we want a fix for julia v1.13? Is it simply that we have to build the openfhe-julia JLL for julia 1.13?

I am not sure (but tend to doubt that that's the problem). Maybe you can ask in the #binarybuilder Slack channel or somewhere similar if this is a known issue, or if they have an idea why it might fail? It could also have to do with the CxxWrap.jl/libcxxwrap-julia layer, so maybe check their repos for issues as well

Also, have you tried running the anything locally with Julia v1.13 yet? That might be even better for a bug report, since it's easy to reproduce.

I think we are simply missing a build for julia 1.13

Singular.jl has a similar setup, but 1.13 is available:

Also libsingular_julia_jll.jl/README.md lists 1.13 under "Platforms", while openfhe_julia_jll.jl/README.md only lists versions up to 1.12

We are currently explicitly excluding julia v1.13 in Yggdrasil openfhe_julia/common.jl. Singular.jl on the other hand allows everyhting starting from julia v1.10 in Yggdrasil libsingular_julia/build_tarballs.jl.
The version restriction was introduced with JuliaPackaging/Yggdrasil#11714.

@sloede I don't fully understand why the version was restricted back then and if and how it related to the issue documented in #86. Should we remove that restriction now?

I agree - this seems to be a problem on our side. I assume the limitation was introduced while v1.13 was still only a release candidate and caused failures. Please update our Yggdrasil build chain to not restrict newer Julia versions anymore, and if it builds find, proceed to merge. Maybe leave a comment in the code that if unreleased Julia versions should ever cause issues in an Yggdrasil build, this is the place to restrict them.
