Project Overview: Seismic Data Processing for Mars InSight
In this project, we have been working on analyzing seismic data from the Mars InSight mission and lunar mission, focusing on detecting seismic quakes. We have developed three different models to process and analyze the seismic data:
Demo Notebook: This notebook was provided as a reference by the original repository. It demonstrates how to work with seismic data (originally from Apollo 12) and covers event detection, plotting seismic traces, and feature extraction. We used this as a guide to structure our own models for Mars data.
Model 1: The first model was built on a limited dataset containing three days' worth of seismic data from the Mars InSight mission. This dataset is stored in three folders: 334, 335, and 336. These folders contain .mseed files for the respective days. Model 1 primarily deals with data processing, filtering, and feature extraction from this limited dataset.
Model 2: This is an advanced version of Model 1. In Model 2, we enhanced the preprocessing pipeline, added new feature extraction techniques, and experimented with machine learning models for event detection. The complete dataset was used for training and testing purposes. This model is designed to handle larger datasets and more complex seismic event patterns.
Data Information:
3-day Mars Data: The three-day dataset is organized in folders 334, 335, and 336, which represent data from those specific days. This data was used for developing the initial models.
Full Data: The full dataset is stored in a folder named data. This complete dataset was not uploaded here due to size limitations, but it can be found in the original GitHub repository. If you want to run the models on the full dataset, please download it from the repository.
Instructions:
If you face any issues with the current repository, such as missing files or code errors, I recommend checking my original repository where the full dataset and other resources are available.
