I usually listen at 1.75x or 2x, but I have playlists that I want to listen to at 1x speed (for example music), and I either have to set speed to 1x every time a new video starts or go to settings, change it to 1x, and change it back when I'm done.
Proposal
I think I'd be more convenient to have the video playing at the speed I played the last video at, until I change it in the player settings instead of always going to the general settings.
