makes sense! one other chair approval and good to merge IMHO (if WG has consensus on the underlying process)

Notes from SC sub-committee on DIF Recommended:

  1. DIF web page defining “DIF Recommended”: A dedicated DIF webpage will describe what “DIF Recommended” means.
    1. Designees must link to this page in their press releases or announcements.
    2. Web page should link to canonical table of DIF Recommended methods in WG repo
    3. Right to Remove: Clarify in definition that DIF may revoke the designation if there are extenuating circumstances.
  2. Keep label as “DIF Recommended”
  3. Steering Committee should be notified when formal review period has started for a DID Method: The WG chairs should notify the Executive Director when a DID Method has entered the formal review period. During this formal review period, SC can raise any objections/issues with DIF Recommended label for that DID Method. No explicit approval at the end of formal review period is required.
  4. Standardized Report: Update the “DIF Recommended” process to require a report upon completion. WG will define template and process.
  5. Coordinated Release Strategy
    1. Table in WG repo should add “yes” under DIF Recommended column when formal review period is completed and PR approved (this is already the case, noted for information only)
    2. NO announcement from DIF or designees on blog, newsletter, or social media until there are at least 3 “DIF Recommend” DID methods
    3. After the first 3, DIF Recommended label can be announced (by DIF and designess) as and when the formal review period is completed / PR approved.

Merging this, since several of the Steering Committee's points are being addressed in this PR, and there seem to be no objections/concerns.
