DataCite Linked Data First Pre-release

This is the first public pre-release of the DataCite Linked Data repository.

The project publishes a linked-data representation of the DataCite Metadata Schema 4.6, organized as resolvable JSON-LD resources for classes, properties, controlled vocabularies, contexts, and supporting manifests. This release establishes the initial staged structure of the namespace and provides both source files and generated distribution artifacts for downstream reuse.

What is included

  • Linked-data class definitions in class/
  • Linked-data property definitions in property/
  • Controlled vocabularies and term resources in vocab/
  • JSON-LD context documents in context/
  • A manifest inventory for the staged schema in manifest/
  • Bundled distribution artifacts in dist/:
    • JSON-LD
    • Turtle
    • RDF/XML
  • Human-browsable HTML index pages across the namespace
  • Supporting scripts for generating indexes and bundled distribution outputs
  • Introductory documentation for navigating the repository and understanding its structure

Highlights

  • Establishes the initial linked-data publication layout for DataCite Metadata Schema 4.6
  • Provides stable, resolvable resources for schema concepts and controlled vocabulary terms
  • Includes reusable JSON-LD contexts for compact linked-data representations
  • Includes a manifest-driven bundled distribution for easier consumption as a single graph
  • Adds a plain-English guide for users who are new to linked data or JSON-LD

Notes

  • This is an initial pre-release and is intended as a staged, non-final snapshot.
  • The repository currently focuses on semantic definitions and linked-data publication, not full validation rules or production-grade constraint enforcement.
  • Feedback on structure, terminology, completeness, and distribution format is especially useful at this stage.
