Repository navigation
feat(site): refresh xNet marketing around an owned workspace - #727
Conversation
- Lead the homepage with the shipping alpha and distinguish integrated AI and commons goals. - Carry the blog’s ownership, open workshop, consent, and community themes into an illustrated vision page. - Explain the composable substrate through nodes, schemas, views, and an optional account of storage and sync. - Add an editorial visual system, responsive navigation, a workspace tour, and searchable field notes. - Preserve essay and legal prose, existing pricing data, and the detailed privacy argument. - Verify the production build, responsive layouts, theme and navigation controls, and internal links. - Keep this branch local for design review before publication. Signed-off-by: Chris Smothers <chris.smothers@gmail.com>
- Reuse the homepage section framework with a white and zinc palette, coloured feature cards, tighter spacing, and the workspace in the hero. - Retain the ownership message, blog-derived vision, and concise substrate explanation while separating available alpha features from future plans. - Tighten supporting marketing routes and the searchable blog index, and fix mobile anchor navigation and long inline-code wrapping. - Verify the site build, internal links, responsive themes, and controls; preserve the unpublished local preview for design review. Signed-off-by: Chris Smothers <chris.smothers@gmail.com>
- Restore the Apple, Windows, and Linux icons on the download page. - Use neutral macOS, blue Windows, and orange Linux download actions, with matching secondary links and readable light and dark colours. - Preserve release asset routing and keep the update in the local preview. Signed-off-by: Chris Smothers <chris.smothers@gmail.com>
- Record Chris’s approval of the compact white layout and platform icons. - Mark the design exploration complete and authorize the reviewed direction for publication after the repository checks pass. Signed-off-by: Chris Smothers <chris.smothers@gmail.com>

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to These localized issues do not block the site redesign, but the heading hierarchy and self-hosting links should be corrected before merge if practical. Pre-merge checks |

- Keep exploration age as a derived report status without a stale-count threshold, baseline, or requirement to extend draft review dates. - Publish the current age report in the CI summary and document the policy. - Correct the hub setup destinations, commitment heading hierarchy, and spacing after the homepage commitments link from PR review. - Verify the age report with 54 stale drafts, the date-boundary tests, exploration links, workflow syntax, and the production site build. What
The homepage previously led with easy AI integration ahead of the shipping experience. It now leads with the local-first workspace: documents, databases, canvases, a desktop library, and workspace export. Current developer tools are distinguished from integrated AI and longer-term commons goals.
The approved design retains the old site’s compact section framework, with white and neutral surfaces, coloured feature cards, the app screenshot up front, and the squircle mesh wordmark. The builder section explains nodes, schemas, views, storage, and sync. Blog-derived vision connects the workspace to ownership, open tools, consent, and durable communities.
Supporting marketing pages share the layout, the blog index gains search and topic filters, and download options restore platform icons and colours. Essay and legal prose, release asset routing, and existing pricing data are preserved. Chris reviewed the local preview and approved this direction for merge.
The exploration age threshold is now informational at Chris’s request. Drafts still appear in
STALE.mdafter their review date or the default 90-day window, but the count no longer fails CI. The obsolete baseline is removed and the generated report appears in the job summary; no draft dates were extended. The exploration and follow-up skills now reflect the same policy.Changelog
Adds “Explore the workspace and the ideas behind xNet,” describing the clearer product, data-layer, and vision presentation.
Verification
Production site build and all existing content/output validators pass: 136 pages built, 52 static routes validated. The local review banner is absent in production.
During design review, checked 20 routes at desktop, tablet, and phone widths in both themes; corrected narrow inline-code overflow and mobile anchor navigation.
Verified blog search/topics, code tabs, theme persistence, and the mechanics disclosure, including native menu/disclosure behaviour without JavaScript.
Audited 3,962 internal links across 71 marketing outputs with no missing routes or anchors.
Rechecked the final download icons and colours at 1440, 375, and 320 pixels in both themes.
The exploration report succeeds with all 54 stale drafts still listed; all 12 existing date-boundary tests pass. Exploration reference validation, agent-instruction checks, and workflow YAML formatting also pass.
Browser-verified the review fixes: correct hub setup links, sequential commitment headings, and punctuation without an extra space.
Normal push hooks pass: repository formatting, 102 typecheck tasks, and 12,749 tests (four existing skips). Repaired a missing local Electron binary before the successful run.
