While the GPU build would be runnable on a CPU-only system, it pointlessly downloads huge binaries, which we can avoid.

I think the rest of the loosening can happen later tbh. And you might even be able to revert the six loosing. Ultimately, 2.7 addresses many of the challenges and we can likely build that if we work together on it insteadof spending too much time here. I might personally unpin things like |

I just don't think such hacking is really in our perview without opening issues with upstream and they seem to have already addressed it in a recent version. |
