🚀 Setup & Configuration

Network Setup

If the device cannot connect to a known network, it will enter Access Point (AP) Mode.

• Look for a WiFi network named "OpenTramli" on your phone or computer.
• Connect to this network.
• A configuration portal should automatically appear. If not, open your browser and go to 192.168.4.1.
• Select your home WiFi, enter your password, and save. The device will reboot and join your local network.

Device Configuration

Once the device is connected to your local network, you can access its dedicated web interface for advanced settings:

• Find the device's Local IP address (visible on the CYD info screen or via your router).
• Enter that IP address into any web browser to manage station settings.

🎮 Controls

• Change Layout: Press the Boot button to cycle through different UI layouts.
• Flip Display: Tap the screen to flip the display orientation.

📍 Finding your Station ID

To fetch data for a specific station, you need its unique identifier:

• Go to map.geo.admin.ch or click "Stations:" on the configuration page.
• Search for and click on your local station.
• Click the "More Info" button in the info panel.
• Copy the ID provided there and enter it into the device configuration page.

When configuring a station, you can also adjust these two parameters:

• Limit (count): Determines the maximum number of upcoming departures to be displayed per station.
• Offset (minutes): A threshold to filter out very soon departures. Any departure scheduled within this many minutes from the current time will not be shown.

You can add any number of stations. Ensure that all entries fit within the available display lines.

📡 Over-The-Air (OTA) Firmware Updates

The application features a minimalist, asynchronous Over-The-Air (OTA) update mechanism. To flash new firmware wirelessly, navigate to http://<esp-ip>/update in your browser. Selecting the firmware.bin file instantly triggers the upload and flashing process. Once the update is complete, the ESP32/CYD automatically reboots.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

Issue: The display appears empty or shows "N/A".

• Connectivity Issues: A missing WiFi connection or a network timeout can also cause this behavior.
• Memory Constraints: This often indicates the ESP32 is running out of available memory. Try reducing the Limit for that station in the configuration settings to decrease the data load.

Issue: The display flickers:

• Power Supply: This is often caused by unstable power. Try reconnecting the USB plug or using a different cable/power source.

Use of the Online Service "transport.opendata.ch"

Data Timeliness and Accuracy: The timetable data provided by the online service is non-binding and may deviate from actual timetables. The developer assumes no responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the data.
