Building data collection

Clayton Miller edited this page May 4, 2020 · 2 revisions

The collection of the metadata and whole building meter data from the various sites outlined in Table 1 from the attached paper was done by the author team of this paper from September 2017 until May of 2019. Seven of the sites from this list are online data sources that were found online and are freely downloadable without the use of login credentials. These sites are considered open access data sources and are publicly available. Table from that paper outlines these seven sites and the online link to the main downloading interface for the data. The remaining twelve sites did not have online, publicly available data feeds and therefore there were facilities management professionals involved in the process of data collection and organization for those subsets. Data collection from these sites was a manual process that included site visits, in-person meetings, and data collection workshops, numerous digital communications via video calls and emails. The raw meter data for these sites was downloaded and provided to the technical team usually via emailing flat files. These raw data sources are not included in the data repository, however, the process of convergence, cleaning, and normalization is included in the subsequent subsections of this paper.
