The water was rendering ON TOP of elevated terrain because:

  1. transparent=true caused water to render in transparent pass AFTER terrain
  2. This meant depth test always passed since terrain depth was already written

Fixes:

  • Change material.transparent from true to false
  • Water now renders in opaque pass with proper depth sorting
  • Change mesh.renderOrder from 5 to -10 (render before terrain)
  • Remove polygon offset (no longer needed)

Also added debug logging for water region detection (temp).
