Alastria EPIC is the evolution of Alastria ID, a W3C recognized DID method for Self Sovereign Identity. The goals of Alastria EPIC are within its name as EPIC is the acronym of Enhanced Privacy Identity Concept. Also the alignment with European regulations, more specifically GDPR and eIDAS 2.0.

eIDAS 2.0 information

• 9/feb/2023: eIDAS 2 framework enters in trilogue phase

• After trilogue:

  • Implementation acts
  • 2 years for member states to present wallet
  • 1 year for big companies to accept wallet usage
  • Estimated 2027 general usage

• 22/feb/2023: eIDAS Architecture and Reference Framework outline has been published

  • Many technical details

• EBSI continues its works

  • EBSI compliant wallets (not required by eIDAS but kind of aligned)

Alastria ID/EPIC planning

• Alastria ID will reach its final version at v2.2
• Alastria EPIC (or Alastria v3 as stated in some forums) will:
  • Complete current MVP work, focused in privacy enhanced privacy model
  • Adapt current Uses Stories with the recently ARF's OpenID4VCI, OpenID4VP and mDL
  • Development of code libraries to integrate EPIC into Wallets and Issuers/Relying Parties solutions
