Define: self-reported #52

Description

@narko4u

Term: self-reported

Proposed definition: A property of an observation or record that asserts the artifact described it about itself, with no independent verification from outside the artifact's write path. A record can be well-formed and self-reported, or well-formed and independently observed; the property names which of the two holds.

Category: deferred (``)
broaderTerm: null

Why this term: The observability-versus-evidence distinction needed a name for the weak property that separates them. An OTel span is emitted by the thing it describes, so its content is self-reported no matter how well-formed it is; a substrate-vantage record is independently observed. The term was coined in the OWASP GenAI-Security-Project agent-control-standard conformance discussion (issue #36), where it was adopted as the property under test for the verifier-side primitive, and it maps onto the claim-scope distinction between emission and operational conformance already admitted here (issues #50, #51).

scopeNote: Proposed for the taxonomy definitions pass. The paired contrast is the family of independently-observed properties (substrate vantage, external observation), expected to follow in separate proposals per the workstream's paired-contrast protocol. relatedTerms and contrastsWith deliberately empty until those terms are admitted.

Definition status: proposed, open for discussion at the weekly sync.
