Fix hooks
This PR fixes a long-standing issue where item loss messages would incorrectly display %s instead of the item name. The format string has been replaced with a safer ostringstream method. Also includes fallback handling for missing item templates and prepares for future localization support. It removes also the directories db-auth and db-characters because they are not include any files.
