search
With this command you can search OpenStreetMap data in Nominatim, at most ten results.
You can type the command search with words to search (search term). It isn't necessary to type the first letter for places in capital letters. If you want to search New York, you can type:
/search new york
Returns results for «New York».
OpenStreetMap database is multingual, some places are tagged in more than one language. In this case, you can search in the language that you want. If you are searching for Slovenia country, you can type:
/search Slovenia
Or you also can type:
/search Slovenija
Results are different, but both can find Slovenija (country).
Even you can type something like this (Slovenija in Persian):
/search اسلوونی
And you get the same result: Slovenija.
You can use commas for better results. Simple example, if you want to search Central Park in New York, you can type:
/search central park
But will get some results for «Central Park» in USA, UK and China. You can get better results typing:
/search central park, usa
Now, all the results are for United States of America. But you can get a better result typing:
/search central park, manhattan, usa
