🎬 Capstone Project — Movie Ratings Bias Analysis

📌 About

This project investigates whether Fandango’s movie ratings in 2015 were biased upward compared to other platforms such as Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, and Metacritic.
It is based on the 538 article “Be Suspicious Of Online Movie Ratings, Especially Fandango’s”.

📊 What Was Done

• Explored and cleaned two datasets:
  • fandango_scrape.csv → Fandango’s displayed stars, actual ratings, and votes.
  • all_sites_scores.csv → Ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, and IMDb.
• Used pandas and visualizations to compare Fandango with other platforms.
• Analyzed rating distributions and averages.
• Found evidence of systematic inflation in Fandango’s displayed scores.
