A DOS-style command shell for the original Xbox. Run it from your dashboard or recovery environment for file management, text editing, and system control.
- Path completion (Tab) — Complete file and folder names as you type. Press Tab to complete the current word; if the path has a folder (e.g.
cerbios\cer), completion keeps the path and completes the name (e.g.cerbios\cerbios.ini). Multiple matches complete to the common prefix. - Command history — Use Up and Down arrows to recall previous commands (last 50).
- Scrollback — Use Page Up and Page Down to scroll through long output (e.g. from
DIRorTYPE); new input scrolls back to the bottom. - In-line editing — Use Left and Right arrows and Backspace to edit the current line before pressing Enter.
- Colors — Use the
COLORcommand to change text and background (e.g.COLOR 0Afor green on black).
Use these names with the colon when switching drives (e.g. HDD0-E:) or in paths (e.g. DIR HDD0-E:\cerbios).

- Arrows — Move cursor.
- Home / End — Start/end of line.
- Backspace / Delete — Delete character before/under cursor.
- Enter — New line.
- F2 — Save and stay in editor.
- F3 — Exit (saves if modified).
- Status line shows row/column and hints.
- Original Xbox (or compatible).
- Built with the Xbox SDK (VC++ 7.x / Xbox project).
- Typical use: Boot to BIOS of choice and launch, the terminal will default to
HDD0-E:.
Open TerminalX.sln in Visual Studio (with Xbox SDK), select the Xbox configuration, and build. Deploy the resulting XBE to your Xbox.
