Who is TayMcKenzieNZ?

TayMcKenzieNZ was a content creator and developer known primarily for contributions to FiveM, a multiplayer modification framework for Grand Theft Auto V, which was later acquired by Rockstar Games August 11, 2023.

They have developed scripts and resources for roleplaying servers, such as RPEmotes, a popular emote menu allowing players to express themselves with animations, props, walkstyles, binoculars, prone, crouching, crawling and facial expressions.

Below is a timeline of notable events related to TayMcKenzieNZ:

Timeline of Events

Early Development:

TayMcKenzieNZ like many casual gamers, grew up with a PlayStation and eventually purchased a PS3 before upgrading to a PS4 and moving to PC where he began modding Grand Theft Auto V single-player before transitioning to FiveM.

Tay joined popular server Rockstar Mischief and eventually became a moderator while hosting car meets at the Diamond Casino & Resort parking lot during the early stages of CFX's alpha testing phases of OneSync, a built in framework that allowed servers to sync more than the standard 32 player capacity.

Tay unfortunately experienced burn out and frustrations as the server popularity grew and felt he was taken advantage of due to his timezone being in the southern hemisphere. Tay eventually left the server and their discord, however abused his moderation privileges and unbanned hundreds of people before receiving his own ban of two years.

He later began learning Photoshop and retrexturing assets as well as learning basic Lua and creating custom resources.

Release of RPEmotes

Fed up with the lack of anomations and after discussions with then fellow content creator Poodle who provided assistance with the addition of a sub menu solely for animal emotes, Tay took on the challenge of learning basic Lua and transitioned dpemotes into RPEmotes, a widely used emote menu for FiveM roleplay servers. The project gained significant community support with many offering pull requests and joining the development team.

Unfortunately TayMckenzieNZ was banned from FiveM with the majority of his projects being forked and discredited by Noor Nahas of PopcornRP, of whom Tay had an issue with for many years.

Tay also experienced run ins with another user, Scully who eventually assisted Tay and the RPEmotes development team.

Tay acknowledges that he didn’t fully understand how GitHub or scripting worked at the time. Over the four years he was involved with FiveM, he took an abandoned project and gradually developed it into his own vision. As his work evolved, he became increasingly frustrated by others who dismissed or discredited his contributions, often downplaying his role while claiming credit for the additions he had made.

GitHub Contributions:

Tay hosted multiple repositories on GitHub, including RPEmotes however later moved content to a paid platform (BuyMeACoffee) before moving to Ko-Fi.

Community Impact:

TayMcKenzieNZ became known for enhancing roleplay experiences in FiveM. Although they eventually stepped back from active involvement due to their harassment and banning by Cfx.re, their work influenced various FiveM projects, including clothing packs and other server resources. They also provided guidance for other creators on the popular discord server Forge: Plebmasters where he later became a content moderator for their hosting platform 'ForgeHub' where community members could advertise their User Generated Content and Tebex stores.

He was later dismissed due internal disagreements with the Plebmasters founder, DurtyFree.

Tay was also part of the CodeWalker discord community however was removed due to antagonizing the lead developer, Dexyfex.

Departure from the Community:

TayMcKenzieNZ was banned from the cfx.re community due to multiple alleged breaches of the code of conduct. They later moved to BuyMeACoffee, but after just one year, they were banned in March 2025 due to multiple reports by notorious Cfx.re user Noor Nahas.

These reports resulted in BuyMeACoffee banning TayMcKenzieNZ from their platform and refusing to pay him what he had earnt.

Where is TayMcKenzieNZ now?

On March 13, 2025 TayMcKenzieNZ had officially stepped down from all active involvement in GTA V and FiveM modding, including:

  • Development
  • Community engagement
  • Discord participation
  • Social media presence

Their contributions remain a significant part of FiveM's modding history despite their departure.

Where can I get in touch with TayMckenzieNZ?

TayMckenzieNZ appears to be active on Instagram and discord however only interacts with close friends. Due to his departure, he has no interest in offering support for his previous work or updating them (either paid or free).

If you wish to buy TayMckenzieNZ a coffee as a thanks and a departing gift, you can reach out to his PayPal or check out his Ko-Fi where some of his projects now reside.

September 2025

As of September 1st 2025, Tay barely touches his PC. FiveM has still not added supported for their enhanced version of GTA 5, despite it being released March 4th 2025 and cfxre announcing their plan to support it on February 20th 2025.
