This was a test that I got as far as to compile, but the numerics don't seem to work yet; needs some debugging.
Otherwise, this would allow to throw out most of the index calculation code bloat in DistributedFullGrid, which would be cool. Especially cool would be the sub-grid iteration stuff that is not yet merged into boost, found here:
boostorg/ublas#126
