Tested against nixos/infra with the pin reverted and I'm seeing the following build failure in dgv865p82a736b10p3frwq91zn14c41p-nixos-channel-native-programs.drv:

Package nix-store was not found in the pkg-config search path.

to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

It looks like the hydra overlay didn't set Nix in that case?

Pluto, the machine which runs the channel scripts, does run nix 2.28.2, so I think the overlay is in place.
