update for those who need this feature and are unable to wait for the release you can install the fork directly from github with the following

npm install https://github.com/v01d3tr/react-paypal-button-v2/archive/feat/add-paypal-button-events.tar.gz
add this to your package.json scripts
"postinstall": "cd node_modules/react-paypal-button-v2 && npm install && npm run build:js",

it's not ideal, but if you really need it, this will work
