Welcome to the Logla Wiki. This Wiki is used by the Logos Initiative to document the Logla Prime language and it's derivations.
-
Perfectionism: Strive for perfection in human communication.
-
Composability: All concepts are expressible as predicates, to effectively reduce the number of primitive concepts or axioms. More complex concepts are be built from the bottom up by composing predicates.
-
Transparency: A language consists of symbols that have referents; if two symbols have the same referent, then by referential transparency, they should be interchangeable.
-
Consistency: Logla is a logical language. It should be made obvious from an overarching consistency throughout the language that it is such a language. To this end common patterns should be used within the language's design wherever possible.
-
Precision: To permit unobstructed logical thought, Logla should never force the speaker to supply information that is otherwise irrelevant. In fact, it is not required to specify the tenses of verbs, or the number of nouns, among other things which Logla leaves entirely up to the speaker to decide.
-
Concision: The grammar of Logla should be simple. The motivations for the existence of a given aspect of the language should always be clear and the purposes of different aspects of the language should overlap to the smallest extent possible. Simplicity eases learning and promotes productive usage.
TODO: Are we confusing precision and concision here? Is Simplicity a separate principle?
This is a list of potential goals.
- Review the phonology. Are there any phones that should be added or removed? Likewise for consonant clusters. As an example, Loglan recently removed
x
and made it an optional pronunciation of'
. - Consider stricter morphology to allow non-ambiguous parsing of words without dependence on stress.
- Simplify rafsi system. Rafsi should be derivable from the gismu without memorization.
- Review (and fix) Mekso.
