What is it?!

Learn Japanese Pod is a podcast that teaches you how to speak fluent, natural, Japanese with lots of fun dialogues and conversations about life and culture in Japan. It is hosted by Alex and Ami who teach you everything you need to know to speak and understand really authentic and natural Japanese that is actually spoken on the streets of Japan.

Prerequisites

• To run the iOS version of the app locally in a simulator you will need to be running macOS and have Xcode installed.
• To run the android simlulator locally you will need to have Android Studio installed and have some AVD's pre set up in the AVD manager. Follow this article for some info on how to set one up. Create and manage virtual devices.
• To test the app on a proper device, download the expo app on your device.

  • Android
  • Once installed, on android devices you can scan the QR code or login with your expo account and you will be able to the app under the 'Recently In Development' header.

Getting Started

• git clone https://github.com/Learn-Japanese-Pod/LearnJapanesePodApp.git
• cd LearnJapanesePodApp
• npm i
• npm start
• When prompted hit (i) for the iOS sim or (a) for the Android sim
  • Alternatively on Android scan the QR code with the expo app

I'd also reccommend downloading this React Native Debugger for debugging your apps while running them in them sim or on your devices from expo.
