File Formats Supported

The following file formats are officially supported for Modulo7 exposed to consumers.

Symbolic File Formats

1. Music XML - Music XML is the standard open format for exchaning exchanging digital sheet music

2. MIDI - short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a technical standard that describes a protocol, digital interface and connectors and allows a wide variety of electronic musical instruments, computers and other related devices to connect and communicate with one another.

3. Sheet Music - Sheet music is one of the oldest forms of recorded music. Its a script for encoding Music on paper.

Acoustic File formats

4. MP3 - MP3, is an audio coding format for digital audio which uses a form of lossy data compression.

On top of this certain file formats are being supported purely for research purposes:-

1. Million Song Dataset HDF5 file : Contains features extracted from MP3 files (analogous to feature extraction in MP3 via the Echo Nest API but precomputed. This special file format is used for bench marking and avoiding copyright issues for MP3 files.
