This repo contains a pair of extensions and one demo webapp.
experimentdirectory contains the source of the experimental WebExtensions API for passing some API for editingabout:configprefs into WebExtensions. Install it first.nightly.link- For
arkenfoxaddon you will also need a yet another WebExtension experiment,experiment.parse(nightly.link), that allows to use native JavaScript parser built-into Firefox. Works faster and more correctly than a JS-based surrogate for it we have. If you don't want it, just remove the permission frommanifest.jsonand the addon will use the regexp-based surrogate. Firefox has implementedoptional_permissions, butbrowser.permissions.request({permissions: ["experiments.parse"]})doesn't work currently, since the list of permissions allowed to be used this way is hardcoded. arkenfoxdirectory contains a simple extension checking prefs against arkenfox user.js - a privacy-preserving preset forabout:config. If there are differences, they can be easily fixed.nightly.linkunlockerdirectory contains a simple extension just unlocking all the locked prefs inabout:config.nightly.link
To install the WebExtensions Experiments into a regular (non-Developer Edition, non-Nightly) Firefox you need to patch it. I have created a tool to do it.
