I first started learning the basics of computer programming in various online resources and books such as:
- freeCodeCamp.org, taught the basics of HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Udemy, completed 'The Web Developer Bootcamp' by Colt Steele, learned using NodeJS with Express and MongoDB
- 'Eloquent Javascript' book by Marjin Haverbeke, a more deep introduction to the complexity of Javascript language
- BA Art, Music, Theater and Cinema studies
During the four months at Makers Academy I was faced with many new technical challenges that always bring new problems, I always applied a rigourous analytical process, second to my nature, to find the right solution to any struggle by carefully read any error messages(always celebrate error messages!!) and using debugging techniques taught during the course.
I am an open-minded person who enjoy share new ideas and approaches to solve problems, I come from a mixed educational background where I reveled in studying scientific and humanities disciplines that led me to be curious about all aspects of the world around me. This was reflected during the group projects at Makers where I always encouraged discussion, alternative visions and a respect for all different backgrounds to bring the best into a team effort.
In my previous career in the catering industry I worked in a small team of five individuals, taking care of more than hundred customers in only 2 hours during busy lunch time in the City of London. This was possible thanks to group members sharing the same common goals, having clear and direct communication and focusing on problem solving rather than expending energy on competitive struggles or interpersonal issues.
During my time at university I learned to pay attention to the finer details: in my final dissertation I applied film analysis techniques to extrapolate, isolate and describe every single film frame in its defining characteristics and their relation to one another. This is a meticolous time consuming work that I enjoyed as it brings a unique understanding on the single components and their relationship relative to the whole picture. I succesfully used the same approach during coding: in debugging applying analytical process to fix a problem by looking at the smallest parts of my program to understand the bigger picture to extrapolate the bigger issues, consistently pay attention to details when writing code to avoid a lot of busy-work churn for the whole team that has to deal with that code.
I love cooking and I am currently mastering sourdough baking, when I am not coding you will find me outside walking, hiking, snowboarding or playing football with friends.
