Conditional Questions Guide
Only if you want it to. If you don't want to add conditions to your questions, don't ever click the Add Conditions button and your experience will be no different.
Whenever an option-based question is created there now exists the option of adding actions of your choice in response to certain answers to these questions. The two main action types are removing future questions and sending an email once this answer is submitted.
Firstly, create all the questions you intend to use for your template (this will provide a system later for labelling questions to remove). Then, return to the questions you want to add a condition to (they must already be saved with options) and an Add Conditions button will now be usable below the question options. Here, you can set conditions for each option configuration/set. Note, this will be a single option for radio button and dropdown formats but will be a multi-select if the format is a checkbox. Next, you can choose for the condition to be a remove or send email:
If you choose the condition type remove then the next dropdown will consist of all the subsequent questions in the template. Here, whenever a plan using this template saves an answer to this question with this question option (set) the ticked questions will be hidden from the plan - no longer requiring a response.
If you choose the condition type add webhook a form will be opened. Use this to customise the email you would like to be sent upon submission of this answer to this question. Click Create (or outside the form) to save the email, the x in the top right to discard, and enter (if not adding the message) to save the entire question. This can be edited easily with the button edit email. Note, details of the researcher name, question answer, question, plan, template, and DMPonline email-signature are already included in the email.
Both condition types can be easily added and removed, and once saved will be displayed in the question summary within the section editing.
Nothing will differ from the usual plan creation experience unless a question option is selected that a condition has been added to. If questions are to be removed/hidden, these questions will slide away upon saving the answer and the number of answers/questions in each phase and section will be updated. Sections no longer containing a question will be disabled but still visible. We may soon a notification similar to that of answer saved/saving alerting the user of what questions are no longer visible if this would be of help. If an email condition is set, an email will be sent upon saving this answer.
Emails will not affect the plan. If questions are removed then they will also not be visible from the plan, regardless of question or plan format. Empty sections will be hidden in the plan as well (from the second deployment).
