How to create unit and integration tests for behavior trees?

Although the documentation references the logger interface and mocking, I still haven't been able to understand the code and execute it in a ros package. Has anyone implemented test in behavior trees before? If so, how did you executed the tests?

Not sure if it helps, but maybe check Nav 2's implementation of Behavior Trees? I think they may be using an older version but I believe I saw some tests there.
