Hello, I've saw your PR and I took the time to add folia support in my PR. I hope you don't mind if I stole some of your code, as I find the states kind of interesting, something I didn't think of.
Anyway, it's part of a larger update, but this is how I've implemented it.

Please note it has backwards combability too, as we don't need to break stuff if people just don't update.
