The recipe from 1.1 uses copper and iron plates as far as I know, so I just re-added it.

The recipe for pistol already exists. It is created by the base game. It just needs to be un-hidden and added to a tech.

You are very right. I tried .enabled, which didn't work, but I didn't think about .hidden >_>

If you're not sure what a prototype property does, check the documentation. It's very good!

https://lua-api.factorio.com/latest/prototypes/RecipePrototype.html#enabled

In this case, setting enabled to true makes a recipe available from the start of the game, without having to be researched.
