Problem

The check job replaces the shared Bun executable used by other work.
The commit hook uses a different package runner from the project scripts.
The package cannot start when another extension also registers web_search.

Change

Keep the check job's runtime inside its temporary directory and give the repository search tool a unique name.

Check job
Exact Bun 1.3.7 archive in runner.temp.
  GITHUB_PATH selects the job's executable.
Commit hook
Bun runs the existing staged lint, type and test checks.
Pi package
  web_search becomes agentic_utilities_web_search.
Other extension tools and search behavior stay unchanged.

Proof

Check Before After
Actual job installer setup-bun writes the shared home directory Version 1.3.7 runs from a fresh job directory
Shared executable and shell profile hashes Changed by the previous CI setup action Unchanged by the new installer proof
Full check, package dry-run and Pi startup on 0140aa6 Not rerun on unchanged base Pass with job-owned Bun 1.3.7
Normal pre-commit gates npm invokes the project checks Bun invokes every existing check, secret scans pass
Pi startup with normal extensions enabled Exit 1, web_search conflicts Exit 0, empty stderr, no prompt or saved session
Package contents Both changed resources are included Both remain included

Pi startup uses its documented RPC mode and closes input after twelve seconds.
No extension is disabled, and no model prompt is sent.
The check job still depends on the secret scan job.
The separate PR body workflow keeps its existing setup action.
This change does not claim isolation for every workflow.
Both hosted CI runs passed on 0140aa6. Pullfrog approved this exact head.
The check job used job-owned Bun 1.3.7.
The Pullfrog approval passed on the same commit.

Review

Finding Disposition Reason
Optional archive hash enforcement Decline The job keeps the existing version pin at ci.yml:38. The independent sha256sum check matched the published release checksum. This change isolates installation
Existing npm wording in the repository instructions Decline AGENTS.md:26 and :34-35 are unchanged. The hook runs the existing package scripts through Bun. This change does not rewrite repository instructions
The separate PR body workflow still uses global setup-bun Decline pr-kit.yml:23 belongs to the canonical installed kit. This change isolates only the check job and makes no broader claim

The prior CI and hook review found no Act On items.
The fresh combined review found no Act On items on 9d9e5db.
Real tool registration, Pi startup and the three-commit secret scan passed.
Main then advanced. A normal merge created 0140aa6, and the repeated checks and fresh review passed.
All four changed files are byte-identical to the reviewed version. All 24 base-only files match current main.

Merge danger

Door: two-way. Revert the affected commits to restore the previous behavior.
Blast radius: low. The check job and local commit hook keep their existing verification commands.
The search tool name changes for package users. No repository prompt, skill or caller uses the old name.
The actual package starts with both search extensions loaded.
No shared executable, profile or extension configuration changes during the proof.

Changes made by GPT-6.1 Sol and Claude Opus 5.5 via T3 Code

pi-web-access also registers web_search, so pi -e . failed to start with a
tool conflict. Rename this repo tool to agentic_utilities_web_search, per the
globally specific naming rule in rules/extensions.md.

🟠 bun-linux-x64-baseline.zip is forced for every Linux runner · workflows/ci.yml:38

Correctness · workflows/ci.yml:38

The install step always downloads an x64 Bun binary. An ARM64 runner with the configured labels fails at bun --version, so CI never reaches the checks.

Fix: Choose the archive from runner.arch in .github/workflows/ci.yml, or require the X64 label in runs-on.

🪧 More tips
  • Run npx skills add coldteadotai/pr-lens, then tell your coding agent: "Diagram the change you just made with PR Lens and attach it to the pull request."
  • Run npx @coldtea/pr-lens-cli analyze --base origin/main on a branch, then npx @coldtea/pr-lens-cli render .pr-lens/graph.json. Same lenses, your own model key, before the pull request exists

  • Set github.comment.collapsed: true in .github/pr-lens.yml to fold the comment behind one View architecture and data flow row. Drawing still runs as before
  • Set github.draw: on-demand in .github/pr-lens.yml and PR Lens stops drawing pull requests on its own. Comment @pr-lens draw on a pull request when you want that one drawn
  • Add .github/workflows/pr-lens.yml with coldteadotai/pr-lens/packages/action@v0 and your model provider's key as its api-key to run PR Lens from your own CI. Any /chat/completions endpoint works

Reviewed changes Reviewed all four changed files, including runtime selection, commit-hook behavior, and search-tool registration and references.

  • Job-scoped Bun: The check job downloads Bun 1.3.7 into runner.temp and selects it through GITHUB_PATH, without installing over the shared home-directory runtime. Existing verification steps and the secret-scan dependency remain intact.
  • Commit hook: Staged linting, typechecking, and tests now use Bun while preserving both secret scans and fail-fast behavior.
  • Search-tool namespace: agentic_utilities_web_search avoids the existing web_search collision; the catalog matches the registration, and no repository callers retain the old name.

Validation passed for the exact installer, lint, typecheck, tests, package dry-run, collision-aware registration smoke test, and actual Pi RPC startup. The full local check returned Tool 'shell' timed out after 120000ms; the PR's CI check and secret-scan jobs passed.
