When a run's exit is already Russian (country-ru in the Scraping Browser endpoint, or -region-ru in the proxy login) and the site times out, the old message still said "use a Russian exit". That points at a setting that is already right.

Measured on 2026-09-29, after v0.1.1:

  • The Scraping Browser authenticated (Captcha.setAutoSolve enabled) and then got net::ERR_TIMED_OUT on lk.rosreestr.ru: at 16:32 UTC in the canary, at 16:36 from a Mac.
  • A 2Captcha -region-ru proxy loaded the same page at 16:38 (100 lines).

Change

  • lookup_flow.exit_country() reads the country from the login only. The password is split off first, and a check pins that.
  • open_or_explain(session, country) tells a Russian exit that the exit is failing: retry, or switch transport. Every other case keeps the old advice. The stop reason is unchanged.
  • Both cli call sites pass the country.
  • TROUBLESHOOTING and CHANGELOG [Unreleased] are updated.

Verified

  • smoke_test.py: 304 passed.
  • --e2e on all three engines: 305 each.
  • ci_checks --all is clean.
  • Two planted controls went red: ignoring the country, and a cli call site that does not pass it.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

A timeout through an exit that is already country-ru/-region-ru was told
to "use a Russian exit". The country is now read from the endpoint's or
proxy's login (never the password) and such a run is told the exit is
failing. Measured 2026-09-29: the Scraping Browser's country-ru exit timed
out on the site while a -region-ru proxy reached it.
