Building with QtCreator

I have cloned the repo but have no experinece with QtCreator.
Once I open up the project, QtCreator is asking me to configure it.
Since there are no suitable kits found I don't know what to do.
Could you be a little more specific in the installation part please?

I can be a little bit more specific about Linux installation. Once you've cloned the repo, open QtCreator, and open the project file for the repo (multibound2.pro). Build it (for example, via Main Menu > Build). If there are no errors in the console in QtCreator and Multibound executable is successfully created in the same directory (where the .pro file is), run it.

If installed not from its official site, QtCreator may lack some dependencies when building - for example, for RHEL Linux I missed qt6-qtdeclarative-devel and qt5-qtdeclarative-devel. Had to install those packages to get it working.

Every single time I try and build this, no matter what I try, I get this error:

Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or what libraries I might need?

OK I spent about an hour trying to pick my way around this. The Qt documentation is not all that helpful because it seems to suggest that installing Qt from your package manager won't work, but actually it works fine. The problem is that there is no such thing as "Qt", because it seems to be actually a collection of various tools that only look like one thing from a distance.

On Linux Mint it was necessary to install:

• qtcreator
• qt5-qmake
• qtdeclarative5-dev

(And all their dependencies)

Then, in Qt Creator, open the project file multibound2.pro, and it will complain that the Desktop kit is not usable. You should get a Manage button when you point at the entry in the drop-down box, so click that, which will get you here

Click on Qt Versions, then Add, and you should be able to enter /usr/lib/qt5/bin/qmake.

Now you can go back to Kits, click on the Desktop kit, and scroll down to set this new Qt version in the drop-down menu

Once all that's done you can press OK and then press Configure project. Once that's done you should be able to build it with minimal fuss, and you'll find a directory called something like build-multibound2-Desktop-Debug with a multibound executable in it.

If it doesn't build correctly then I'm afraid I can't help further but hopefully that helps whoever lands here in future.
